IT&E, Docomo thwart foes in Navy Hill caging
IT&E and Docomo regained their winning form after outclassing separate opponents in the 2009 Navy Hill Friendship Basketball League Sunday at the Garapan Basketball Court.
IT&E dominated Rollers Basketball Club, 91-81, to snap its two-game losing skid.
Mike Olaitiman erupted for 33 points for IT&E, which controlled the game from the opening tip to the final buzzer.
Olaitiman nailed 10 markers in the first quarter, which ended with IT&E ahead by nine, 28-19.
IT&E increased its lead to double digits at halftime, 47-33, as Olaitiman continued to attack RBC’s defense and his teammates stepped up, too.
Olaitiman drew double-figure contribution from three teammates with Brendon Talania and Adonis Macoto chipping in 14 markers apiece. Chris Camacho added 13.
Kelvin Fitial paced RBC with 29 points, while Jomar Danas had 13, but made most of his points when the game was already decided. Aaaron Agtarap also finished with 13 markers, but had only three points in the first half when IT&E began pulling away.
In the second game, Docomo, which had its four-game winning streak snapped by Dollar Days last week, recovered from a nine-point third quarter deficit to eke out an 88-84 triumph over Uncle Ben
Trailing at the end of the third period, 59-68, Docomo outgunned Uncle Ben in the payoff period, 29-14, to steal the win.
Gilbert Miranda took charge of Docomo’s rally in the fourth burying 12 points, while Ryan Sanciangco, Ponce Rasa, Jerry Diaz, and James Lee made two field goals apiece.
Uncle Ben had only three players scoring in the fourth period with Jericho Cruz tallying eight, Jack Lizama adding four, and Badong Camacho nailing two.
Sanciangco led all scorers with 32 points, while Miranda finished with 20 marker.
