Meek & Mighty Ocean Swim set for Feb. 14
After last weekend’s SSC Heptathlon Virtual Meet at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool in Marpi, action will shift to Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio this Saturday when Swim Swim Club hosts the 4th Annual Meek & Mighty Ocean Swim.
The ocean swim event will not only feature SSC members, but also other swimmers, as the club is opening the Meek & Mighty to the public.
“Though the task is daunting, the stars of the SSC will not be alone, as they are inviting the public to participate,” said SSC official Lisa Kimball.
Participants will have a choice of joining one of the three races, namely the 1,000-meter Meek course, 5,000-meter Mighty course, and the 3,000-meter Tweener course.
Registration fee is $5 for SSC kids, $10 for SSC Masters, and $15 for non-SSC members. Registration will start at 7am, while races will begin at 8am.
Participants will be treated to a waffle breakfast after the race and will receive a PIC water park pass for the day.
Meanwhile, SSC is looking for volunteers who will record times and for kayakers who will ensure the safety of participants.
Last year’s Meek & Mighty top two winners were Willie Garon and Neri Gutzonwiller-Malakut [1,000-meter race], Grace Kimball and Mieko Carey [3,000-meter course], and Cooper Graf (5,000-meter race]. Twenty-six joined last season’s races.
