The Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association will be organizing the Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Hyatt Regency Saipan beginning today.

NMIVA’s Kelly Butcher said the event would be a mini league with matches to be conducted every Thursday—Feb. 12, 19, and 26.

Playoff games as well as the championship showdown is set on March 5.

NMIVA said the mini-league’s format is 2-on-2 ladies only since the men are playing every Wednesday at the Pacific Islands Club.

Interested participants must sign up with a partner but if they don’t have any, they could make arrangement with the organizers, who may then put together teams.

NMIVA said that schedules of the games would depend on the number of teams that would be signing up for the mini league.

Registration fee is $10 for NMIVA members and $15 for nonmembers.

Organizers are available for registration at the Hyatt beachside.

“This is going to be a fun league and hope to see all the beach volleyball fanatics,” said Butcher.

NMIVA said there will be cash prizes for first, second, and third placers.

Butcher can be contacted at 287-9954 or e-mail her at fruitymom5@yahoocom. You can also call Kim Peterson at 285-0843 or e-mail her at ttkpeterson@hotmail.com.
