American Red Cross sets ‘Family Fun Day’ Feb.14
The Northern Mariana Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring for the first time a Family Fun Day at the Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club this Saturday, Feb. 14.
Kennedy Benjamin, ARC-NMI Health and Safety coordinator, said they expect about 200 military service members and their families to attend the daylong fun and activities.
The event will start at 9am with the registration of participants. Red Cross volunteers, instructors and staff will give presentations from 9:30am to 10:45am. Food will be served for the luncheon party at 11:00am to 12:30pm.
Benjamin said family members will have the option to take part in the family building activities from 1pm to 3pm or they could just use the PIC facilities until 6pm.
Benjamin said the Red Cross was able to sponsor this event through a grant from the U.S. Department of Defense Secretary.
“We are anticipating 200 military service members and their families. This is a way to get all the families together to support one another,” Benjamin said.
He said the event is just a simple way for Red Cross to say thank you to the military service members for “all the work that they do in protecting our freedom that we hold dear.”
The participants will have the chance to gather and enjoy some great services that will be free of charge.
“It will be a day for family members to come together to enjoy great food, socialize with other families, and utilize the water park.”
