Graffiti artists still on the loose
The person responsible for the “xenocide” graffiti on Saipan is still on the loose, Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.
Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said no one has been arrested yet in connection with the spray-painting of “xenocide.”
Ogumoro said the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau’s Juvenile Unit is still gathering information against the suspect.
Ogumoro expressed optimism that the suspect will soon fall because of “good leads” that investigators are pursuing.
Since last month, there has been a lull in the activity of the graffiti artist who has been spraying the word “xenocide” on bus stops, public restrooms, library, private and government buildings, parks, and even vehicles.
DPS has urged the public to help police in arresting the vandal or vandals because it is instilling fear, especially in the tourism industry.
Describing the graffiti problem on the island as “uncontrollable,” DPS has stepped up its operation against vandals .
Since last month, DPS has caught only one person—a male juvenile—who, along with two other male juveniles, spray-painted the public restroom at the Susupe Beach Park.
