IT&E Fielders controlled the tempo from the get-go to beat D-9ers, 7-4, and snap its three-game losing skid Thursday night in the Big League Division of the 2009 Saipan Little League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

The Fielders, who lost their first three matches this season to Ol’Aces, Aztecs, and Falcons in that order, pulled out three runs in the third inning en route to scoring the biggest upset so far in the division.

Lawrence Sablan and Ben Flores crossed home plate on a string of fielding errors, while IT&E starting pitcher Anthony Tenorio drove Zack Tudela home on a sacrifice fly.

D-9ers started hitting in the bottom of the fourth after connecting just once with a double by E.J. Tenorio in the bottom of the first inning.

Tenorio, who went 4-for-4, scored on single by David Camacho then the latter also came home on a Nathan Castro single with one out in the bottom fourth.

Tenorio made his second run of the night on another Camacho single to tie the game at 3-3.

IT&E broke the tie in the sixth with two runs from Jose Villagomez and Kevin Santos, who both scored the final two runs for the team in the top of the seventh inning.

With no out in the bottom of the seventh, Ton Castro managed to reach home plate on Tenorio’s fourth hit of the night but two of the D-9ers’ last four batters were retired on strikeouts by IT&E reliever Elton Santos.

It was the second loss in four matches for the D-9ers, who will take on the Hustlers in their next game on Tuesday.

The Fielders, who are at the cellar with a 1-3 record, will take on the Hustlers (1-2) in their next game.
