Registration forms for the Taga Kids Triathlon scheduled for April 25 are now available for interested participants.

Tina Goodwin and Mel Daly are organizing the activity, which is one of the side events of the ongoing Saipan Sports Fest organized by Taga Inc. in cooperation with the Marianas Visitors Authority.

Corporate sponsors include Pacific Islands Club, Northwest Airlines, Coca-Cola, Subway, IT&E, Glimpses of Saipan, DFS Galleria, Foremost, Docomo Pacific, and MARPAC.

The first wave of the Taga Kids triathlon will start at 7am at Micro Beach. All the participants must be present by 6:30am.

Russ Quinn of the Northern Mariana Islands Triathlon Federation reminds all participants to register now to give way for an early plan for the event.

Deadline of entries will be on April 24 and there will be no race day registration.

The race will be divided into three age group categories.

The 6-9 years old will negotiate a 100-meter swim, 5-kilometer bike, and 1-km run, while the 10-12 years old will have a 200-m swim, 10-km bike, and 2-km run. The older age group will have to contend with the longer 400-m swim, 15-km bike, and 3-km run.

Parents and guardians need to sign waiver forms for the kids.

Entry fee for this year will be $25 for the first participant and $20 for each additional family member with all forms to be submitted at the same time to avail of the discount.

Last year, the event had five age categories with a total of 18 kids participated.

Cole Chambers crossed the finish line in 25:59 to beat Steven Goodwin, who came in 26:03 in the 5-6 years old for boys.

Andrew Klassen topped the boys 7-8 years old after submitting a time of 16:57. Kento Akimaru arrived in 20:19 for second and Ryosei Toda third with 20:33.

Misaki Kramer (37:42) won in the 9-10 division, while Matthew Klassen triumphed in the 11-12. Micahel Moran (30:20) was the winner in the 13-and-over.

In the girls side, Sarah Klassen won in the 7-8 with her time of 20:20, while Gabbie Race topped the 9-10 with her 38:36.
