Talk about a makeover.

Salon de Manila has moved to the heart of Garapan and will now be called simply as Salon.

Salon opened last April 25 at the ground floor of Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan at the former location of Fakuda Wedding Gowns.

Accountant Lydia Maniacop said the change of location will help the parlor capture the previously untapped tourist market.

“We will now have the best of both worlds. Our local clientele will always be our staple but with the addition of tourist customers, Salon de Manila—or Salon—will be in better shape than ever before,” she said.

Maniacop also said the Salon will also make life easier for local guests of Fiesta Resort and Spa that have scheduled weddings, christenings, debuts, and other special occasions at the Garapan landmark.

“They don’t have to drive to a parlor in a different part of Saipan then go to the hotel for the special event. Salon can do their hairstyling, makeup, and etc. and they could just step out of the parlor and into the event they’ve been invited to.”

Its address may have changed, but the expert hairstyling, makeup, overall pampering, and superb customer service will not.

Salon de Manila pioneers Elizabeth Ishiwata, Lilia Castro, and Julia Ebias along with Rhea Cauzon will continue to be at the beck and call of Salon’s clients and armed with the latest trends in the beauty industry.

Ishiwata worked at a popular beauty parlor in the Philippines’ trendy Shopsville Shopping Mall in Greenhills before moving to Saipan in 1999. She has worked for Salon de Manila since it opened in October 2001.

Her batchmate, Castro, also worked in a beauty parlor in Manila’s Broadway Centrum before coming to the CNMI in 1992.

Ebias, for his part, was a staff of Paul Vincent and Jun Perez in the Philippines and made his move to Saipan in 1996. Like Ishiwata and Castro, Ebias has been with the company since 2001.

Before coming to Saipan in 1991, Cauzon, meanwhile, worked with famed Filipino international beauty hairdresser and makeup artist Jun Encarnacion. He started working at Salon de Manila in April 2003.

Salon’s business hours are from 10am to 8pm Mondays to Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays it is from 10am to 10pm, while the schedule on Sunday is from 10am to 6pm.

Salon is also open for special appointments. To schedule appointments or for more information about Salon, call 234-6412/7171 ext. 1423 or direct line 233-2652. [B][I](Saipan Tribune)
