Dolphins still perfect in Belau league
The IT&E Dolphins kept their unbeaten record in the 2009 Belau Masters Slow-pitch Softball League following an 11-9 victory over Kagman Jacks last Sunday at the Dandan Elementary School Ballfield.
Falling behind by six, 0-6, after one and a half innings, the Dolphins turned the table with an eight-run bottom of the second and added three more runs in the next two innings to remain in the lead.
Kagman also combined for three runs in the third and fourth inning, but failed to steal the win when Dolphins shut the Jacks out in the last three innings.
Kagman Jacks dropped to a 1-4 record and is tied for fifth to sixth place with Peleliu. Trubak is at the bottom of the team standings in the seven-squad field with its dismal 0-5 slate.
Lancheros 7, Peleliu 0MGD Lancheros kept pace with the league-leading Dolphins after shutting out Peleliu, 7-0.
Lancheros improved to a 5-1 slate, half a game behind the Dolphins.
Shortstop Ben Mesa went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a solo homer in the sixth inning. He scored two runs. John Tomokane, Joe Lizama, Bill Aguon, Jack Reyes, and Dimas Omar had one run each.
The best that Peleliu could do in the one-sided game was to have leadoff batter Henry Litulimar reached third base. Litulimar was left stranded to third base, as Peleliu’s next three batters flied out.
Salty Boys 14, Aces 1In another lopsided game, Salty Boys whipped Choll Aces, 14-1.
The victory was Salty Boys third in five games, putting them in a tie for third place with Choll Aces.
Salty Boys allowed Choll Aces to score only at the bottom of the sixth inning with second baseman Felix Romoket making it home on a Bernard Kileleman error.
Salty Boys tallied three runs apiece in the first and second inning, had two in the fifth and closed out with a six-run top of the seventh.
John Andres led Salty Boys’ strong finish, hitting a two-run homer at the top of the seventh, while Highness Asanuma blasted a two-run triple.
Asanuma went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs, and had three RBIs. Kileleman also had three RBIs after hitting 3-for-4, making one double, and notching three runs.
