PMT names new president
Pacific Micronesia Tours announced Thursday its new president, Nobuyasu Kanamaru, following formal turnover ceremonies early this week at the Giovanni Restaurant of the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
Kanamaru, who replaced Katsuaki Kobayashi, met with acting Gov. Eloy S. Inos during the welcome and farewell party.
Inos, who was the keynote speaker, praised Kobayashi for his efforts to help the CNMI tourism industry.
Kobayashi was the president of PMT Japan office for several years until his retirement this year.
Kanamaru was appointed to replace him effective April 1.
PMT is one of the group of companies under JTB Corp., based in Japan.
PMT is the single most important company that oversees the travel of Japanese tourists throughout the world, including Micronesia, mostly to Guam and CNMI.
PMT says Kanamaru has promised to do his best to continue promoting Guam and the CNMI to Japanese tourists.
In his message, Inos recognized PMT for its many years of service to the community and the tourism industry.
“I am sure that with this transition, the highest standards of tourism excellence will be maintained and upheld for the benefit of PMT and our local community,” he said.
