The Refaluwasch Golf Association will hold its May Ace of the Month Tournament this Sunday, May 24, at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort west course.

Check in time is 11am with tee off set an hour later at 12pm at the Kagman golf venue.

Score to beat is the net 68 carded by Nick Sablan in RGA’s monthly qualifier two weekends ago during the Mt. Carmel Golf Tournament.

Sablan actually finished tied with Asterio Tawanpiy, but beat him out in a scorecard tiebreak.

The former national golfer carded a 35-38 in the front and back nines to finish with a gross score of 73, which minus his 5 handicap have him the score to beat.

Tawanpiy also came away with a net 68 (76, 38-38, 8 handicap), but lost in the front nine net to Sablan, 32.5 to 34.

Jesse Seman, Jess Wabol, and J.J. Atalig all finished with identical net scores of 70, but the latter took third on a scorecard tiebreak. Wabol was fourth followed by Seman.

In related news, Wabol, who is also RGA’s tournament coordinator, is encouraging current and past members to pay the club’s annual membership fee, which will remain at $25 because of the current economic crisis.

For more information about RGA’s May Ace of the Month tourney and the rest of its tournaments for 2009, contact president Jordan Kosam at 483-4506 or Wabol at 288-1129. (PR)
