Religion subjects as Literature credits

Why doesn’t the school board regard these religion classes as mythology and give these transfer students English credits or history credits? For instance, if a student took a class in Native American literature, he or she would likely read creation myths similar to those in the Bible. Either God created the world in seven days or a turtle plunged into the endless sea then surfaced with a clod of dirt on its shell, which, of course, expanded to form the earth….thus, the turtle walks slowly because it is carrying the weight of the world on its back. Who is to say that the latter isn’t true? Yeah, literature credit.
