The IT&E Voyagers of Jonny’s Bar & Grill and Best Choice of D’Pirates Bar & Grill remain frontrunners of their respective Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League divisions after the conclusion of last Tuesday’s matchups.

IT&E Voyagers went head to head against the Obyan division leader Best Choice and soundly defeated them, 6-1, on the road to improve its win-loss card to 75-30.

Agingan’s IT&E Incredibles fell to Jonny’s Home Boyz, 3-4, in an away match, but still remained in second place with its 72-33 overall record. Home Boyz is tied with the Docomo Hustlers with identical slates of 70-35. The Hustlers shut out Obyan’s VFW Post 3457 X-Tream, 7-0, at home.

Best Choice holds a 50-55 record, enough for a four-game edge in the six-team Obyan field. Second-ranked Fotten Palau (46-59), of USSP Peleliu Club, missed an opportunity to gain some ground and dropped its match to Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill’s Shark Attack, 3-4, on the road. Shark Attack improved in the standings and is tied for third place with X-Tream; both teams share 38-67 cards.

Meanwhile, USSP Turtles (37-68) bested D’Pirates Pirates (29-76), 5-2, in a battle of the bottom feeders at home.

Agingan notables include one-time 8-ball sinkers Home Boyz’s Mario Diola, IT&E Voyagers’ Jojo Talibong, and Docomo Hustlers’ Rowel Mariano, while IT&E Voyagers’ Rolly Villanueva and Hustlers’ Jerry Soriano both ran the rack for their seventh time this season.

In Obyan play, X-Tream’s George Lizardo sunk the 8-ball off the break for a second time, while teammate Chester Cuento ran the rack a division-best three times this season; seven other players pulled off the feat once.
