DPS sets sobriety checkpoints

The Traffic Section of the Department of Public Safety’s Police Division will be conducting DUI/sobriety checkpoints this weekend.

-Friday, July 1, 2011, 9pm-10:15pm, Chalan Pale Arnold Highway, Chalan Laulau, by IT&E Building.

-Saturday, July 2, 2011, 12:30am-1:45am, Beach Road Susupe in front of the Minatchom Atdao Pavilion.

-Saturday, July 2, 2011, 8pm-9:15pm, Chalan Pale Arnold Highway, Puerto Rico, by the U.S. Army Reserve Center.

-Sunday, July 3, 2011, 1am-2:15am, Beach Road Chalan Laulau by Dr. Benusto Kaipat’s residence.

Each checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes).

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser (speed detection) enforcement.

This activity is part of DPS’ effort to deter, detect, and apprehend impaired drivers and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.
