Shirley’s A, B share women’s lead

Sister teams Shirley’s A and B extended their winning streak to four after downing separate foes in the women’s division of the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League Tuesday night at the TSL Sports Complex.

Shirley’s A played in the first game and shut out Thai Team, 4-0.

Jeraldine Castillo knocked in two goals to lead Shirley’s A’s victory, while Melody Johnson and Irish Pagarao had one each. Shirley’s A is in a tie for first place with Shirley’s B as they hold similar 4-0 records. Thai Team is still winless in three games.

Shirley’s B nailed its fourth win in as many matches after edging Red Team, 4-2.

Marie Javier and Reylynn Sapong drilled one goal apiece for Shirley’s B, giving the team a 2-1 halftime lead. Patty Coleman scored Red Team’s lone goal in the first frame.

In the second half, Ira Palero and Marrielle Gariguez made it to the scoreboard and Red Team failed to keep up with Shirley’s B, as only Zoe Jewell scored for the eventual losing team.

The defeat halted Red Team’s two-game winning run.
[B] MEN’S

Docomo 7, Mellow Yellow 5[/B]

In the first men’s game, Docomo finally broke into the win column after slipping past Mellow Yellow, 7-5.

Docomo’s first three games resulted in two draws and a loss before it topped Mellow Yellow, which is still winless after four matches.

Peter Loken anchored Docomo’s first win, making four goals. He had two in the first half and Trey Dunn added one as Docomo tied the match after 25 minutes of play, 3-all. Allen Mijares, Suriya Mongkhonat, and M. Woo scored one goal each for Mellow Yellow in the first half.

In the second half, Loken found the back of the net twice, while Dunn and Ropati Tonuu contributed one goal each to preserve Docomo’s lead and put their team in the winners circle. Mellow Yellow’s two goals in the second half came from Woo and Young Sin Lim.

[B]Go Green 3, IT&E Men 1[/B]

In the last match of the night, Go Green tripped IT&E Men, 3-1.

Tang Chiming logged twin goals for Go Green, which drew one goal from Raymond Zapanta. The victory improved Go Green’s record to 2-1-1 (win-loss-draw).

IT&E Men absorbed its second straight setback in four games, as only Yishan Wang scored for the team.

Wang hit his goal in the first half, which ended in a deadlock, 1-all, as Tang also scored for Go Green. Tang made another goal in the second half and several minutes later, it was Zapanta’s turn to light up the scoreboard.
