Thai Team moved two notches up in the team standings in the women’s division of the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League after blanking Mellow Yellow, 2-0, on Monday night at the TSL Sports Complex.

Pratoom Stoffer drilled both goals for Thai Team, hitting one each in the first and second half.

Thai Team now has a 3-3-0 win-loss-draw record, climbing up from sixth place to a tie for fourth place with Red Team. Mellow Yellow dropped to a 2-5-0 card and fell to seventh spot in the eight-squad field.

IT&E Blossom holds the last spot with its dismal 0-7-0 card. It remained winless in the double round-robin competition after forfeiting its game against Kulet’s Team.

IT&E Blossom decided to call it a night and handed over the win to Kulet’s Team when one of its players—Amy Weiss—fell on the floor after stepping on the ball and sustaining a minor cut on her head.

Kulet’s Team was ahead, 2-0, when the match was called off in the second half. Vanessa Pritchard and Cleo Nening logged one goal apiece for Kulet’s Team with the former scoring first in the opening frame and the latter finding the back of the net in the second half a few minutes after Weiss’ accident.

Wild Bill’s 9, Docomo 5

In the first men’s division match, Wild Bill’s snapped Docomo’s winning streak at three after nailing a 9-5 victory.

The win gave Wild Bill’s a 6-1-0 record at the end of the first round of the double round-robin league and kept the team in a tie for first place with Korean Futsal Team.

Jeeraphong Thoensaket continued to do wonders for Wild Bill’s, as he erupted for six goals in the victory. He logged four in the first half, as he outscored the entire Docomo crew, who tallied only two goals. Steve McKagan and Trey Dunn had one goal apiece for Docomo in the first half.

Then in the second half, Docomo’s Ropati Tonuu posted a hat-trick, but it was not enough to bring his team back into the game, as Thoensaket answered with a pair, while Lar Wongpanya also scored twice.

Docomo dropped to a 3-2-2 card and was bumped off in third place by Red Inter (3-1-2).
Korean Futsal 4, Thundercats 3

Korean Futsal Team completed the first round of the double round-robin league with a 4-3 win over the Thundercats.

The Thundercats finished the first round winless in seven games, but gave Korean Futsal one of its toughest matches in the men’s division.

The usually explosive Korean Futsal was ahead by only one, 2-1, after the first 25 minutes of play. Siblings Dae Won and Dae Min Jeon scored one goal each for Korean Futsal in the opening frame, while Joel Fruit put the Thundercats in the scoreboard in that period.

Timothy Tawanpiy and Eric Devin Atalig had one goal apiece for the Thundercats in the second half, but still failed to give their team the elusive first win, as Korean Futsal also connected on two goals to save the victory. Jan Wan Rhee and Jin Koo Cho scored for Korean Futsal in the second half.
