Consulate to offer free health screening in Sept.
The Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will hold a free health screening for Filipino workers next month.
The Free Health Screening for OFWs for the third quarter of 2011 is scheduled on Sept. 4 at the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
The screening is done in cooperation with the Filipino Volunteer Medical Team, the CNMI Pharmacist Association, Hardt Eye Clinic, and volunteer Filipino community members.
Registration starts at 6:30am and the actual screening is from 7am to noon.
Medical services that will be provided include blood pressure, blood sugar, and eye-vision check-ups. Those who will avail of blood sugar level check-up should not eat or drink anything from midnight prior to testing until blood samples are obtained.
A total of 392 Filipino workers were served during the second quarter free health screening on June 5.
Consul General Medardo Macaraig said the program aims to increase the level of awareness of diabetes prevention and control, hypertension prevention and eye/vision pressure correction among Filipino workers.
“Through this project, the Philippine Consulate General hopes to reach more and serve even if in a modest way, the medical needs, while fostering the spirit of volunteerism in the true spirit of Filipino bayanihan [on] Saipan,” said Macaraig.
