Rollers Basketball Club’s Rollers 2 triumphed over sister team Rollers 1, 57-53, in last night’s 20th Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League U19 matchup held at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.

The win improved Rollers 2’s win-loss slate to 2-1, while their counterparts’ now sit with a 1-2 card.

Rollers 2’s Rodney Sacramento paced his team with five points in the opening quarter, as he and his crew managed an early 13-10 edge.

A couple of early 3-pointers followed by a strategic line change helped Rollers 2 pull ahead, 35-25, at the half. Rollers 2’s Sheen Metran led the charge with seven points in the second quarter.

Rollers 1 made some adjustments during the pause and contained their rival to just eight points in the third period as they fought their way back to the tie game at 43-all, heading into the final quarter.

Both teams forced a lot of poor shots in the clutch and although Rollers 1 drained a couple of 3-balls to hang around, Rollers 2’s point man Sacramento held it together to secure the win.

Rollers 2’s Metran turned in a game-high 13 points, while Rollers 1’s John Cenir managed 12 in the loss.
