Roman Rudnytsky, the world-renowned classical pianist who is on island and is scheduled to leave by the end of the week, said the community can expect him to return to the CNMI again.

“With an invitation, I’ll be back,” Rudnytsky assured. “In fact, I may be back next year.”

Rudnytsky arrived on Saipan two Sundays ago at the invitation of the Friends of the Arts and visited various high schools in the CNMI before his show, “An Evening of Magical Music,” that was held at the Pacific Islands Club Charley’s Cabaret on Jan. 29.

Rudnytsky, who is here for the fifth time, said that for many of the high school students he performed for, it was their first time to hear classical piano. “For these kids, it was a new experience for a vast majority.”

According to Rudnytsky, he will “probably be playing” with the Guam Symphony in March next year. “In connection with that, then I would come here absolutely. I’ll be looking forward very much to it,” he told Saipan Tribune.

FOA president Susan Fishman-Tudor said in a separate interview that Rudnytsky has been talking about coming back to perform with the Saipan Southern High School Manta Ray Band.

Fishman-Tudor expressed hope that more people from the community will provide their support to FOA, which doesn’t earn much from ticket sales in their events but from solicitations and sponsorships by placing advertisements in their programs.
