The University of Guam Chemistry Titration competition for high school students was recently held at the newly renovated chemistry lab. Teams from John F. Kennedy High School, Guam High, St. John’s, St. Thomas Aquinas, Harvest Christian Academy, Father Duenas Memorial School, and Notre Dame participated in the titration contest.

“This is the first activity to be held in the newly renovated chemistry laboratory in the Science Building,” said competition organizer Dr. Maika Vuki.

The competition was organized several years ago to introduce the field of chemistry to the island’s high school students and to ultimately encourage them to pursue degrees in chemistry at UOG.

Lab renovations amounted to approximately $300,000 and were paid for with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. (UOG)
