Tan Holdings still unbeaten in inter-group
Tan Holdings FC notched a win and a draw in Week 12 of the 2012 NMIFA Men’s Spring League to remain undefeated in the inter-group play of the nine-team competition.
Tan Holdings’ latest win was at the expense of SKY, 5-1, last Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field. Jun Jie Cui scored a hat-trick against SKY to improve Tan Holdings’ win-draw-loss record to 3-2-0. Kwok Pun Wong and Joe Miller also made it to the scoreboard in last weekend’s tournament, while SKY’s lone goal came from Xu Zheng.
Cui broke the ice for Tan Holdings, nailing his first goal in the 22nd minute and then seven minutes later, he eluded his defenders anew for his second goal.
Neither team scored after Cui’s second goal and it took awhile before Tan Holdings found the back of the net anew in the second half, but the goals came in streaks. Wong ended Tan Holding’s silence with a goal in the 63rd minute, followed by Miller two minutes later, while Cui completed his hat-trick with a goal in the 69th minute.
SKY, which has yet to win in the inter-group play with its two losses and one draw, avoided a shutout loss when Zheng scored five minutes before the game wrapped up.
Before beating SKY, Tan Holdings came from a 1-1 draw against Paire FC on May 23. Mohamad Amzad Hossain Khan nailed the lone goal for Tan Holdings midway in the first half, while Zhi Peng Lin saved Paire from a loss when he scored the equalizer in the 89th minute.
The draw against Tan Holdings was Paire’s second. The Trey Dunn-captained squad also has one win and no loss in the inter-group, which featured the four teams in Group A and five in Group B.
MPU 1, Paire 1Paire had its third draw last Sunday as it tied MP United, 1-1.
