A man was slapped with a one-month prison term for beating up his two nieces, including a minor, while intoxicated.

Joaquin M. Igisomar, 38, pleaded guilty last week to assault and battery as part of a plea deal.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Igisomar to two years in prison, all suspended except for one month. He was given credit for five days time served.

Igisomar was ordered to start serving his sentence on Jan. 2, 2014. After his release, he will be placed on two years of supervised probation.

Igisomar was required to pay a $100 fine and $25 court assessment fee. He was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service, write a letter of apology to the victims, and complete anger management counseling. During the probationary period, he will not be allowed to possess or consume any alcoholic beverages.

According to the plea deal, on July 5, 2013 in San Jose, Saipan, Igisomar, while intoxicated, slapped his niece twice on the left cheek. He then walked over to another family member, slapped her, and pushed her down the floor. The family member sustained bruises as a result of the attack.

Police said Igisomar apparently got angry after he was awakened by the children’s noise.
