Two men were arrested in separate domestic violence incidents, while a man was apprehended for allegedly threatening a neighbor with a knife. All incidents happened on Saturday on Saipan.

Richard Alan Santos and Shadel Remeliik Daniel were both arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace. Daniel Edward Durkin was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.

At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Santos, $2,500 cash bail on Daniel, and $10,000 cash bail on Durkin.

Police detective Therese S. Kintoki stated in her report that two police officers responded to Sugar Dock in Susupe on Saturday at 12:55am after receiving a disturbance report.

Kintoki said preliminary investigation showed that Santos and his girlfriend were camping with family members and friends when Santos became hostile to the victim. To avoid a confrontation, the victim moved away from the group, but Santos allegedly pushed her and beat her up.

Medics later arrived and treated the victim, who complained of numbness on the right arm, back pain, and chest pain. Santos was arrested at 1:03am that same day.

In Daniel’s case, police detective Jesse K. Seman stated that a police officer was dispatched to a disturbance incident in Garapan on Saturday at 5:42am.

Seman said the officer met with the victim at a pavilion in Garapan, who alleged that her boyfriend Daniel beat her up. She told police that Danie held her mouth and squeezed it hard. When she fell to the ground, Daniel allegedly sat on top of her and continued holding her mouth, prompting her to scream. Her two female friends came and drove her to a store in San Jose, where they called for police’s help.

The victim sustained bruises on the face and arm. She also complained of back pain.

She told police that Daniel has been beating her up out of jealousy and in fact she filed a temporary restraining order against him last October, but she later asked the court to discontinue the TRO.

In Durkin’s case, police detective Kintoki stated that a police officer responded to the Her-Joy’s Apartment in San Antonio on Saturday at 5:21am after receiving a call about a disturbance.

Kintoki said the officer met a couple and a witness who alleged that their neighbor, Durkin, threw something on the roof of the house, causing a loud noise. Durkin also allegedly threatened to cut the couple with a knife.

Durkin told police that a dog almost bit him as he was going up the stairs to his apartment unit and that his girlfriend could not sleep at night because of dogs barking.
