Glee club raises $600 from luncheon fundraiser

Umang Glee Club of Koblerville Elementary School held a successful luncheon fundraiser last Saturday, the proceeds of which will supplement their funds when they leave for Guam next month for the 2012 Tumon Bay Music Festival.
Schobwuut Premier Consulting’s Rose T. Ada-Hocog, an active Umang Glee Club parent, said yesterday that the fundraising activity held on Jan. 28 at the Oleai Pavillion sold 310 lunch sets for $5 each. Their net profit totaled $600 after expenses.
The award-winning group is currently raising funds to send 25 members to defend their titles at the annual Guam festival slated for March 2 to 11.
Umang Glee Club won gold in the choir competition and was hailed the second best musical group after the Saipan Southern High School’s Manta Ray Band in last year’s festival. They will serve as the opening act since Manta Ray Band has decided to forego the Guam competition to save for their upcoming trip to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Ada-Hocog noted, though, that they have yet to reach their goal to raise the $4,000 they need for the club members’ meals in Guam. She said that they plan to hold more luncheon fundraisers, with the next one scheduled on Feb. 11. Lunch menu will be announced soon.
