SHEFA shortens office hours
The Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance is shortening its regular office hours in the wake of Typhoon Soudelor.
SHEFA board chair Oscar Babauta said the temporary office hours are now Monday to Friday, from 8am to 11:30am, until further notice.
“Unfortunately, we still do not have power or water and we want to make sure that we still open our office to accept supporting documents for this fall 2015 term,” Babauta said.
SHEFA administrator Merissa S. Rasa said that supporting documents have to be complete upon submission.
Deadline for the submission of supporting documents is Sept. 30, 2015.
“We highly recommend applicants to hand-deliver their documents or mail them in for off-island applicants since we are unable to receive faxed documents or print documents, or sent via email. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the public for their understanding,” Rasa said.
Also SHEFA scholars who recently graduated need to submit a copy of their degree, an official transcript, SHEFA graduate form, and Employment Verification Form. The graduate form and verification form can be downloaded at www.saipanshefa.net.
SHEFA recipients have three months after graduating or non-enrollment to submit the documents for compliance purposes. Threat of legal action faces those who fail to comply with this rule.
SHEFA announcements such as dates for the release of awards, deadlines, scholarship/employment opportunities can be found on their Facebook page.
