Man alleges lawsuit is an extortion try
A man who was sued over the ownership of a store’s parking lot said the case is just an attempt to extort money from the landlord.
Ray M. Bermudes, also known as Ray Falcon, told Saipan Tribune that Barbara B. Feger, who filed the lawsuit, is actually his sister. He said his sister was pushed into filing the case by her husband.
“If Mr. Feger wants to take all the land, he has to wait for the lease agreement to finish in 25 years,” he said. “He cannot just come in here now as everything was done legally in 2000.”
The parking lot, Bermudes said, belongs to his brother and that at the time he was given the power of attorney as witnessed by his two other brothers to go ahead and lease out the parking lot.
Bermudes said he and attorney Ramon Quichocho will answer the lawsuit in court.
With respect to the $10,000 that the court found him liable to pay Barbara Feger, Bermudes said the issue is on appeal before the CNMI Supreme Court.
Barbara Feger had sued Bermudes and storeowner Lin Jin Song.
Mrs. Feger, through counsel Loren A. Sutton, asked the Superior Court to declare that she is the owner of the subject land and to void a lease agreement entered by Bermudes to allow Song to use a portion of the land as a parking lot.
