Gov’t house burglarized
Furniture and other valuables were swiped away by unknown suspects from a Department of Finance-owned facility located on Capitol Hill, police reported yesterday.
Government house number 1343, a structure maintained by the Department of Public Works, was burglarized and robbed sometime between January 21 to March 25, 2001, police records indicate.
In a police interview with the one-storey edifice’s maintenance crew, items that were found missing included four-stove burning coils, a refrigerator, one water heater, a dining table with four chairs, a two-piece sofa, three armed tables, and four lamps.
Mr. Vitaliano Moses, a DPW employee had informed police that he last made a routine check on the house last January 21, 2001. Back then, everything seemed to be in place, the DPW staff reported to authorities.
He added that when he came to check on the house in the morning of March 26, he noticed that the front door was cracked open and the items inside were already gone.
He noted that the structure’s interior appeared to be dirty from the last time he saw it. Mr. Moses then reported his findings to the Internal Affairs, just a block away from the burglarized facility.
From there, Internal Affairs forwarded the complaint to police. The case is still pending investigation. (MM)
