Finals slots up for grabs as UFO semis resumes

The moment of truth has arrived as today’s action in the Budweiser-Coca Cola 6th UFO Inter-Organizational Basketball League will determine who advances to the finals and who will play for third place.
Today’s opening bout of the third round of the semifinals features Samahang Ilokano at Pangasinense-Flor A. Miranda taking on LIPS-Mobil at 6pm.
Both teams are coming off disappointing defeats last weekend after opening the semifinals with victories. Both also recorded identical records in the regular season, losing only one game to eventual pool winners.
Meanwhile, the two teams who had their perfect season charge snapped in the first round of the semis courtesy of SIP and LIPS will battle in the second game. Defending champion Visminda-Tambayan/Nel Atalig will try to go for another title but must first get past a strong Cabalen-RP Construction/Transamerica. Both teams were undefeated in the regular season to win their pools, and were favored to meet in the finals until their losses in the semis. Both kept their title hopes alive with wins last week. Sadly, only one will advance. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
The winners of the two bouts will clash in the best-of-three championship series, which will begin on March 5.
