DES Family Fun Fair set
Dandan Elementary School will hold a Family Fun Fair on Saturday, May 26, from 8am to 2:30pm. The public is cordially invited to join the school for a day of fun and excitement for the whole family. There will be a variety show by DES students, fun games, great food, rummage sale, Bounce House and other entertainment.
There will also be a Raffle Drawing (rescheduled from 2006 Cultural Day, April 8, 2006), fun game with prizes, a Rummage Sale (6:30am-2:30pm), delicious food and drinks

‘Charlotte’s Web’ comes to life in school play
The Dandan Elementary School cast members of the play Charlotte’s Web will be having its fourth show on May 19 and 20, 2006 at the Hafadai Beach Hotel from 6:30pm.
“We are inviting the general public to come and watch the dynamic cast and talented young actors and actresses as they showcase their skills in acting portraying the various casts from the original play of Charlotte’s Web,” the school said in a statement.
There will be two stagings: the 1st show will be at 9am; the 2nd show is at 12 noon (tickets child $1, adults $2).
The play tells the story of Wilbur, a barn pig who is lovingly raised by a girl name Fern. He is bored and lonely-until he meet Charlotte, the beautiful gray spider who also lives in the barn. Charlotte thinks of a wonderful way to save Wilbur from a pig’s unhappy fate. Her clever plan will delight you in this favorite children’s story.

OES Cultural Day celebration
May 20, 2006, Saturday is a significant day for the diversified culture at Oleai Elementary School. OES and its PTSA are hosting the school’s 2006 Cultural Day.
This fundraising activity is launched to support the school’s ongoing improvement projects such as instrumental resources and other classroom needs as well as urgent school programs/activities.
The 2006 Cultural Day celebration, which will be from 8am to 3pm, will showcase live entertainment by local entertainers, culture celebration through dances by OES students, Cultural Day King and Queen coronation, raffle ticket drawing and take home $1,500 grand prize and other monetary and “in-kind” prizes.

Pinoy Idol Episode II at GIG
Catch the showdown of Filipino aspiring singers every Wednesday night at GIG Discotheque. The singing competition will run for 10 weeks and is open to 21 years and above.
Contestants should belt out only Tagalog songs or English songs recorded by a Filipino artists. The weekly winner gets $50 cash and automatically qualifies for the Grand Finals. Contestant should bring minus-one CD on audio CD format and not VCD or DVD to match the player.

Framingham registration ongoing
Registration is now open for ongoing students in the Framingham State College Master of Education program. Students must register by May 31, 2006, to enroll in the courses scheduled from June 3-14, 2006. Total amount due for both courses are $1,132 for Cohort 3 and $1,105 for Cohort 4, plus a $40 facilitation fee for each course for both cohorts. The textbooks and pre-course assignments are now available. In order to meet graduation requirements, full payments for both courses are due upon registration.

Chamber launches ‘Invite-A-Sailor’ Program
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce has launched its “Invite-A-Sailor” program, where interested families can invite sailors to their homes for a meal or a barbeque.
There is no other obligation or expectations, although families may wish to take their sailor on an island tour or other activities could do so.
Armed Forces Committee chairman Associate Judge David A. Wiseman spearheads the Invite-A-Sailor Program. It seeks to provide an opportunity for local families to meet and entertain members of the U.S. military.

On May 29, 2006, Memorial Day, the CNMI will be paying tribute to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have passed on. The Attorney General’s Office wants to hear from all CNMI consumers who have been solicited by a company calling themselves Community Reading Club of Southern California. This company contacts consumers over the phone and tries to sell them magazine subscriptions. Often, the sales pitch involves an offer of a “free” gold watch with the placement of an order with this company, please call the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Counsel at 664-2333.
