JKPL closed tomorrow

The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 in lieu of Monday’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.

When a holiday falls on a Sunday or Monday, the library closes on Tuesday after the holiday.

JKPL will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 for regular hours. Please enjoy the time with family and friends!

OVR Tinian outreach this Wednesday

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation would like to inform the public that they will be conducting their regular monthly outreach on Tinian this Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019. OVR counselor, Rose Ichiuo, will be at the Northern Marianas College campus Room D from 8:30am to 2:30pm. If you would like to meet with her please give her a call at 287-6548. (PR)

A few days left to register with FEMA

Residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands have less than week left to register for federal disaster assistance for damage from Typhoon Mangkhut and Super Typhoon Yutu.

The deadline to register with FEMA is Jan. 27, 2019.

A FEMA registration has a nine-digit number. If you do not have the nine-digit number, you are not registered for federal assistance.

Those who suffered impacts to their primary residences and have not registered with FEMA may do so either of three ways:

On-line at DisasterAssistance.gov

Call the FEMA Helpline at 1- (800) 621-3362
Go to the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC)

The DRC located at the Multi-Purpose Center on Beach Road in Susupe, is open 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday. Closed on Sunday.

The DRC will be closed on Monday, Jan 21, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr, Holiday.

Please remember, applicants should have the following information at hand:

Social Security number.
Address of the damaged primary residence.
Description of the
damage.
Information about insurance coverage if applicable.
A current contact telephone number.
An address where they can receive mail.
Bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds. (PR)

Humanities awards on Jan. 24

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council will be hosting the 21st Governor’s Humanities Awards at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s Restaurant on Thursday, Jan. 24, starting at 11am. (PR)

I Kumision i Fino’ CHamoru meeting this Thursday

Due to extenuating circumstances, the Kumision i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’någuen i Historia yan Lina’la Taotao Tano’ (I Kumision i Fino’ CHamoru) has moved its Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 meeting to the usual time, Thursday, Jan. 24 from 12:30pm to 3pm at its Hagatña location, the Garden House at the Plaza de España.

Agenda includes 1. Logistics for the Mina’ Dos Fina’che’cho’ on Friday, 1/25/19; and, 2. Approval of previous meeting minutes. (PR)
