Islander stuns PTI, Home Boys win
Islander Rent A Car capitalized on its home court advantage as it issued a 3-1 win against formerly undefeated PTI Voyagers in their Budweiser Open 8-Ball League encounter Tuesday night at Round Two Bar and Grill.
Islander won the match by the slimmest of margins in total points earned, 116-115.
The Voyagers easily won the first round 45-29 but PTI prevailed in the next two frames, 43-39 and 44-31.
It was sweet revenge for Islander following PTI’s 3-1 triumph in the two teams’ first encounter this season last Sept. 3 at the Jonny’s, the Voyagers’ home.
But despite the loss, the Voyagers remained in the lead with a 23-5 win-loss record.
Islander Rent A Car, anchored by Boyet Sequioco, Erik Caisip, Joey Cruz, Jomer Enrique, and Rey Pinangay, meanwhile, slid from second to third place with a 21-11 record.
This is due to the 4-0 victory that was scored by SaipanCell Hustlers over USSP Wat-Ever.
The Hustlers are now 22-10, while Wat-Ever remained in fourth with a 9-19 win-loss mark.
In the other game, Godfather’s Rock Steady and Coral Reef Shark Attack split their match, 2-2, to stay in the bottom with 9-19 and 4-24 records, respectively.
In the Obyan division, Primo’s Home Boys further tightened their grip of the lead with a 22-10 card after hammering out a 4-0 win over the visiting Coral Reef Barracuda.
Inspired by the presence of their team manager Bill Mott, the Home Boys’ Nolan Cultura, Frans de Luna, Mario Diola, Jorge Lizardo, and Junacho Mendoza compiled rounds of 46, 42, and 46 for a total of 134.
Barracuda, composed of Leo Sablan, Nizer Masayos, Steve Limes, John Peter, and Oscar Sablan managed 27, 34, and 34 for a total of 95.
Krystal Perfect Spotters, for its part, came away with a 2-2 decision against USSP Fotten Palau and are now tied with D’Pirates Huwa with 17-15 records.
D’Pirates lost to VFW Warriors, 1-3, with the latter improving its mark to 12-20 in a tie with Barracuda.
