Division leaders fall to underdogs in 8-ball

Division leaders D’Piarates Huwa in Obyan and IT&E Voyagers in Agingan lost to their respective underdog rivals last Tuesday night in the 2009 Budweiser 8-Ball League.

USSP Fotten Palau nailed its biggest win of the season by beating D’Pirates Huwa, 5-2. It won four of the five singles matches and one of two doubles.

But Huwa remained in the top of the standings with 35-21 win-loss mark.

Fotten Palau tied BwiiBwi’s Shark Attack at second to third places with 31 victories and 25 defeats after the latter also lost to another underdog.

The Perfect Spotters defeated Shark Attack, 5-2, and climbed to fourth place with a 30-26 record.

At fifth spot are the D’Pirates 8 Ballers (28-28), which also dropped its game with a 3-4 count to sixth-ranked USSP Watever (27-29).

BwiiBwi’s Da Snipers became the only team in the Obyan Division that escaped the wrath of the underdogs, prevailing over cellar dweller VFW Warriors, 4-3.

Da Snipers improved their record to 25-31, while the Warriors further went down to 17-39.

In the Agingan Division, the Docomo Hustlers triumphed as it hosted corporate rival IT&E Voyagers, 4-3, wining four of the five singles before dropping the two doubles matches.

Despite the loss, the Voyagers are still on top of the division standings with its 33-16 win-loss card. The Hustlers climbed to second at 31-18.

Billy Bones Home Boys scored a huge win against its sister team Bad Boyz, 6-1, clinching four of the five singles and the two doubles.

The Homes Boys are now tied with Utopia Mix Acers at 28-21, while the Bad Boyz are at the bottom with a 13-36 record.

The visiting Mix Acers won over host Snicker Tuna 8 Ball Knights, 5-2.

The Mix Acers rallied from a 1-2 deficit by taking the last two singles as well as the doubles and improved to a 28-21 record, good for fourth place. Knights, meanwhile, fell to 19-30.
