Thank you Dr. Inos and Dr. Borja
I want to thank Dr. Rita Inos and Dr. David Borja for responding to my letter of suggestion for Martin Luther King’s Birthday to be “recognized” by the Public School System starting in 2006.
With the school system having control of its own calendar, in our Board meeting on Thursday (2/3/05), the official school calendar was presented by Dr. Borja and adopted by the Board, which included the observance of MLK Day as the last day of the “intercession period.”
And No, MLK’s holiday will not affect any students’ educational activities! Its also good to see that both houses in our Legislature are trying to reach a resolution and I hope the ball isn’t dropped this time because I will continue to pursue the recognition of Dr. King until it’s a done deal in the CNMI. But at least all Public School Employees can join us next year at the MLK Day celebration and hopefully the entire community will be able to come one day.
I’m sure that I can confidently say thanks to the Dr. Inos and Dr. Borja on behalf of many citizens in the CNMI for setting the expectations and for being the role model for the rest of the CNMI Government—hopefully, “We (The government) Shall Overcome Someday”
