Tagaman schedule released
With just a little more than two months remaining before the 16th Annual Tagaman Triathlon sends legions of triathletes into the water behind the Pacific Islands Club, organizers are continuing their efforts to host what they plan to be the grandest event in the history of the local multi-sport happening.
At a meeting of race officials and sponsors in the conference room of the Marianas Visitors Authority in San Jose yesterday, the MVA provided an inventory of all equipment accumulated from the previous years, as well as the completed schedule of events flier for both local participants and all MVA travel destinations throughout their zone of influence.
In addition to the many classes hosted by professional triathletes that complemented last year’s athletic events, participants will be invited to attend a number of extra activities such as a number of afternoon lagoon swims around the World War II-era tanks.
The list continues with an evening run with the Saipan Hash House Harriers, bike tours around the Northern portion of Saipan that follow with a barbeque, 5-kilometer and 10km sunset trail runs, and a complimentary sunset fishing cruise sponsored by Sea Star.
Racers and their families will also be able to participate in the Marianas Raceway Challenge, which pits drivers against one another as a part of the Marpi Go-Cart Race Series, as well as a Managaha Island trip.
Organizers are hoping that the added events will help the Tagaman event continue its trend of annual expansion, and enrich the experience for participants. This year, the projections point toward another year of growth, as officials estimate some 50 professionals will be joining the field in April.
Interested participants may register for the 2005 Tagaman at the MVA headquarters, as well as the newly updated website. The new course map is also available by logging on to www.tagaman.com.
Organizers will follow up on all of the travel arrangements, prize acquisitions, and the recruitment of professional athletes when they return to the MVA conference room on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 1:30pm.
