The start of the 8th Annual Island-wide Village Basketball League is a quick bounce pass away from getting underway, and managers and coaches are called to meet once again for the upcoming league to ensure a smooth transition from training to regular season play.

League coordinator Jonathan Tenorio is looking to get the new season of 14-and-under hoops off on the right foot, and scheduled a briefing for all team officials in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 6pm. Once there, organizers will discuss everything from the rules to the rosters so that there will be no questions when opening day rolls around.

The Mayor’s Office and the Division of Sports and Recreation are working together bringing back the popular league that features tomorrow’s roundball stars on village courts across the island

Team officials are reminded that the deadline to submit the $100 registration fee has been pushed back until Friday, Feb. 25, to make sure that they have enough time, and according to fellow league coordinator Joe Mettao there is only one policy, “No pay, no play.”

The date for the first round of games to begin is on Monday, Feb. 28, so teams have less than three weeks to run tip drills and run the lines before opening tip off.
