Alicia T. Aquino, a student at Marianas Baptist Academy, will join a select group of students representing their schools, communities, and states as People to People student leaders.

Aquino has been accepted into the People to People Future Leaders Summit on Law that will be held in Washington D.C. on June 27-July 6, 2005. She will be attending Georgetown University Law in Washington D.C.

All students accepted into a People to People program must meet rigorous academic and leadership requirements. Aquino was nominated and accepted for the honor based on outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential.

Aquino, a 15-year-old 10th grader at the Marianas Baptist Academy, is the daughter of Daniel Jr. and Joann T. Aquino. She had a GPA of 4.0 during the first semester of the 2004-2005 school year. She participated in the 2005 Student Mock Trial Competition, is active with the MBA Red Cross, and is a volunteer at the “Little Darlings Child and Respite Care”

Her hobbies are reading, baking, surfing the Internet, and listening to music.

She plans to pursue college education in the U.S. and or get nominated by the Washington Representative to go to the West Point Military Academy in New York.

The People to People Future Leaders Summits on law, medicine, leadership, theatre and the arts, and international diplomacy bring together outstanding student leaders from around the globe to focus on leadership, team building, community service, college admissions, and professional aspirations. Students work on an action plan to make a difference in their communities, develop skills to help them lead tomorrow’s world, and build their college résumés, while earning academic or service-learning credit.

Participants also gain insights to guide their educational and professional careers, and benefit from a strong focus on college admissions. Through workshops, presentations, excursions and discussions, student leaders attain a clear advantage as they pursue and fine-tune their selected fields of interest. Students will have the opportunity to meet with admissions officers and gain valuable advice for navigating the college application process. In some locations, students will be able to tour several area universities.

The 2005 People to People Future Leaders Summits will convene at Columbia University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and University of California, Los Angeles.

The program is coordinated by People to People Ambassador Programs to fulfill the vision President Dwight D. Eisenhower had for fostering world citizenship when he founded People to People during his presidency in 1956. For additional information, visit www.FutureLEadersSummit.org. (PR)
