Police responded to the Commonwealth Health Center Monday afternoon after the discovery of a dead man inside a vehicle at the hospital’s parking lot.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David said investigators are probing whether or not there was foul play behind the death of Jude Olopai, a 44-year-old Carolinian.

As of yesterday, investigators have yet to establish if Olopai died of natural causes, so that the case could be considered closed.

Citing preliminary investigation, David said Olopai brought some family members to the hospital for dental reasons. Olopai then stayed inside the car at the parking lot.

Witnesses discovered Olopai unconscious and rushed him to the hospital’s emergency room, where he was declared dead.

David said that Olopai had recently undergone a heart bypass operation.
