National Track and Field Championships this Saturday
The Northern Mariana Islands Track and Field Federation announced that it would host another edition of the annual CNMI National Track and Field Championships this Saturday, June 18, at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility.
The competition, according to NMITFF coaches’ director Elias Rangamar, would feature two divisions.
Athletes ages 12 years old or younger would compete in the 12-and-under division. while others will battle it out in the open division.
Both divisions will feature competitions for males and females.
Athletes will vie for top honors in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1,500m races, as well as field events such as high jump, long jump, shot put, discus, softball throw—only for 12-and-under division—and javelin, among others.
The top three finishers in each event will be presented with medals.
Rangamar said registration for the meet begins at 1:30pm, with the competition kicking off at 2pm.
Among the familiar names expected to compete are World Youth Championships and World Championships-bound Darrel Roligat, South Pacific Mini Games-bound Dexter Dillay, middle distance dominator Bo Wang, as well as youth standouts Reylynn Sapong and Lia Rangamar, among others.
