The Northern Marianas College has signed an agreement with Tokyo Tourism Institute last Wednesday to strengthen its academic exchange in line with promoting both cities’ tourism industry.

NMC president Tony V. Deleon Guerrero said that promoting global education is now necessary. “The tie-up between the two institutions is a springboard for the college’s objectives to promote the tourism industry in the CNMI,” he said.

Guerrero said the college would have more partners in the future and not only in tourism. This would entail student exchange, faculty exchange, and cultural programs that would lead to a better understanding among nations such as between Japan and the CNMI.

The partnership between the two would open the door for internships in the island. Guerrero said students from Tokyo would have the option to accomplish their internships in the Commonwealth from six months to one year.

“We are now inviting students from Tokyo for an educational tour to come to Saipan,” Guerrero said.
