Stop the spinning!

Would someone please enlighten me as to where this figure of $18 million came from? This is the dollar amount many claim the government still owes CUC. The spinologists, in an attempt to make the governor look bad, recite this number over and over again. Where have they gotten their information? CUC? Finance?

It is my understanding that the government owed approximately $20 million to CUC in 2002. Since that time the local government has paid the local utility over $32 million including $11.2 million this year, $5 million more than what the Legislature allotted in its annual appropriation. The current administration has bent over backwards to make right what was created by decades of mismanagement and neglect. Let us not put those who created this mess at the helm of the ship once again.

It is apparent to me that the spin doctors are of the belief that if they repeat false information enough times the people will begin to believe it is true. CNMI voters have matured and should confirm these figures independently.
