Four teams signify interest in resto league
Four teams, led by defending champion Capricciosa, have already signified their intention of joining the 2006 season of the Inter-Restaurant Basketball League.
Coordinator Jake Villanueva said aside from Capricciosa the other three teams that have given their go-ahead in taking part of the “midnight league” are former champion Country House, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Naked Fish, which was formerly known as Jollibee.
Villanueva said teams that took part in the inaugural 2004 season of the resto league are again welcome to join and encouraged representatives from Pacific Gardenia (El Segundo Restaurant), Angel Wings, Keeraku Restaurant, and LSG Sky Chefs to send representatives to its meeting this coming Monday, April 3, 3pm at Capricciosa.
Villanueva and his co-coordinator Jojo Molar earlier said that games of the resto league will be played on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights beginning at 10:30pm.
The regular season would feature a single round-robin format. Throughout the regular season, best player awards will be presented to the top performers of the winning teams and like its inaugural season, 3-point shootouts will be held during halftime.
Villanueva and Molar also reminded teams that only employees of businesses joining the resto league are allowed to suit up for their respective teams.
Teams, however, are allowed to recruit an “import” provided the player is not currently a member of the CNMI National Basketball Team.
The 2006 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League is once again being sponsored by Triple J Five Star Wholesale and interested teams must fork over a $600 entrance fee to participate.
