Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs tries to capitalize on its self-concocted high unemployment rate in the NMI based on raw data from the local statistics office here. The term “raw data” naturally requires refinement of numbers submitted so that the final report depicts true local conditions be it on unemployment rate and other information.

For instance, there’s a gulf of fallacy in OIA helmsman Allen Stayman’s use of “raw data” while employing a certain methodology to arrive at his well propped-up ill-founded conclusion. But the only reason that he would use this inconclusive number is to spark and wedge local sentiment against guest workers. It’s a clever use of a politically correct issue, but any reasonable man knows that the employment of stupidity to force racial tension to an explosive level here is in fact highly irresponsible.

Let’s take a specific area in the interview of a family clan on employment. Say, all 14 members were asked if they are gainfully employed. The query raised requires a “yes” or “no” answer. The questionnaire didn’t include any further query, i.e., why six out of 14 are unemployed. For we all we know, maybe four of the people quizzed are retirees, including a handicap or disabled or a student at NMC or over the age of 65. The census employee isn’t trained to be forward-looking in this instance. They ask the questions, jot down the answers, then submit it to the main office for compilation.

But there’s an obvious ploy why Stayman capitalizes on this inconclusive data: He wants to convince us that we have failed in wealth and jobs creation so he could cover his bony buns for effectively ruining current and future investments in the NMI through his federalization agenda. The NMI had a thriving economy before the height of the federalization controversy. Investors are especially sensitive to stability in investment venues and would slam any further investments what with the constantly shifting sand of federal policy instability being played in full force across the country and in these isles.

As a result, current investors have decided to downsize business operations while prospective investors have decided to head elsewhere to friendlier investment venues. In short, OIA’s agenda has essentially turned these isles into its mini-version of politically unstable Indonesia, Thailand and other tiger countries in the Asia/Pacific Region. What’s mind boggling is Stayman’s sterling ability to play a patient suffering from dyslexia and instant amnesia. Perhaps the Pinto Kids have completely succumbed to the new cultural fad of instant coffee, soup, milk and disposable diapers. This reluctant and adolescent TTG mentality has yet to gracefully exit the deficient work habits of the Pinto Kids at OIA.

OIA’s apparent distorted use of raw data isn’t surprising given its failure to turn the tide in our minds in favor of federalization. It decided to ruin our economic future already devastated by the Asian Contagion (crisis). It failed in its fiduciary responsibility to assist the NMI “attain a progressively higher standard of living” because it assumed the illegal role of a policymaker strictly the purview of the US Congress. To top it all off, it decided to defray the cost of the recently concluded “Economic Summit” in the middle of a mind-numbing economic contraction that translates into a huge plummet in revenue generation. Woe! What warped expertise that fits the old maxim: “After all is said and done, a lot more is said than done”.

Interesting that Stayman is preparing to exit the backdoor of his cubicle at Interior for another post after he burned our economic pasture and reduced it to useless ashes. He now wants to ensure that he does the same to the freely associated states of Belau, FSM and the Marshalls. He never answered our query for his definition of “higher standard of living” other than a ruinous agenda to send most of the indigenous people to the abyss of helplessness and joblessness in perpetuity. He never even offered a single alternative in industry substitute which goes to illustrate his alleged expertise as a cowardly and naked business advisor.

And guess what, friends: We’d still be here to weather out OIA’s ruination even long after Stayman retires from government service. He’s succeeded in ruining our economic future, but don’t despair let’s pick up the pieces and move on. His racist attitude isn’t a true reflection of what our country stands for. Let’s move on!
