Nat’l. conference for youth with disabilities
The President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Education, Social Security Administration, National Council on Disability, U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau of Maternal and Child Health, Centers for Disease Control and the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, announces the holding of the National Leadership Conference for Youth with Disabilities on June 24-28, 2000, at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, Maryland.
The goal of the conference is to help prepare the next generation of disability community leaders by involving them in a series of activities designed to build self-confidence and leadership skills as well as to promote career development and opportunities for employment.
Participation in this National Conference will afford eligible applicants with an exciting opportunity to meet with and learn from national disability leaders, public officials, and other young leaders with disabilities from all over the country.
Approximately 100 persons between the ages of 18 and 24 will be chosen to participate in this conference, with all transportation, lodging and meals to be provided.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel comprised of members of the Youth Leadership Council and the President’s Committee. The application deadline is April 15, 2000. Participants will be selected and notified by May 8, 2000.
