The CNMI has been invited to join the Okinawan Peace Summit from Oct. 15 to 19, 2000 in efforts to promote world peace and mark the end of the 20th century.

Extended families and friends of the Micronesian Repatriation Association in the Commonwealth are also urged to join other world peace advocates in Okinawa for this historical event, according to Hiroshi Naketsugu, secretary general of the Okinawan Peace Summit.

Choken Ginoza, an Okinawan born on the island of Tinian, has been appointed the overall chair for the summit. He was also the chair of the Micronesian Repatriation Association, one of the biggest organizations on island.

The 35th National Nayokai Peace Convention was slated in Okinawa during the early part of July this year. The people of Okinawa are very honored to have been chosen as the appointed city to hold the summit.
