The word is “socialist”
I was happily preparing to pen a piece on Japan’s economy today, but a few readers asked if I’d crank out another piece on the Democratic Convention, so I guess I’m on the hook to do it.
I’m not one for politics, but the U.S. Socialist (a/k/a Democrat) party really is obnoxious. Over the span of a couple of decades, I’ve watched the United States becoming socially engineered by centralized government, and it is a pretty gruesome thing to behold.
Meanwhile, Socialist veep candidate Joe Lieberman reports that his party differs with the Republicans over issues such as education, the environment, and health care.
We’ll take them one at a time to reflect on the position of the Socialist party. Here goes…
1. Issue: Education. Socialist party platform: More government (of course).
2. Issue: Environment: Socialist party platform: More government (what else?).
3. Issue: Heath Care: Socialist party platform: More government (surprised?).
Make no mistake about it, the Socialist party won’t be happy until it recreates a Soviet style system right at home in the U.S. of A.
And, what’s utterly mystifying about it, is that millions of Americans just can’t wait to shoulder the yoke of statism.
Even a pigeon has the sense to fly out of a cage if the door is opened. Americans, by contrast, will run into the cage, and trip over each other in their haste.
Health care? Hillary might have botched her crusade for a Soviet style medical system, but the Socialist party can just build it block by block, one piece at a time.
As for education, my colleague Charles Reyes, Jr. pretty much penned the definitive piece on it yesterday, so all I can add is a hearty “you betcha’, dude.”
And as for the environment, the issue has never been Mother Nature’s health, the issue has been Big Brother’s power grab. Either you can own your land, or the government can own you land, but both of you can not own it. The government, protecting nature? Tell that to the folks in the Marshall Islands, who saw their islands vaporized by nukes. Tell that to the folks in Nevada and Utah who watched nuclear fallout rain from the skies. The same government that blows off nuclear bombs–more or less just for the heck of it–is now the environmental Messiah? Wait a minute, is this the same government that buried PCB’s in Tanapag? Why, it certainly is.
What a crazy world. The very liberties that the founding fathers fought for are being thrown away, willfully, hastily, in some kind of mass hysteria. When the masses are begging for authority, authority will eventually arrive.
City government, county government, state government, federal government, and, now, a germinating international government. Environmental police, language police, sex police, school police. Layer upon layer upon layer of authority, taxes, rules, and laws and still, they don’t have enough.
Sure, America is rich now, but sometimes I can’t help escape the idea that it is being fattened for the slaughter.
