In keeping with the mission to provide lifesaving training that reflects the latest in scientific research, the American Red Cross will begin updating CPR courses this Fall in response to the Emergency Cardiac Care ECC guidelines.

The ECC Guidelines were announced during a press conference and will be published by the American Heart Association on Aug. 22 in the next issue of circulation.

The American Red Cross is responding swiftly to these changes, and have already developed a comprehensive plan to incorporate these revisions into all affected CPR courses and products by Summer 2001. Those currently certified in CPR will be able to update their skills when their certification expires.

Change is always a challenge, but as a leader in providing lifesaving training to the American public, the American Red Cross is excited about scientific research in emergency response that will result in saving more lives.
