‘Plane pull’ event garners 10 participating teams
Ten teams have already confirmed participation in the “Plane Pull” event, where they will try to pull a Continental 737 across the tarmac at the Saipan International Airport.
The NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross, along with co- sponsors Continental Airlines and the Commonwealth Ports Authority Employee Association, said in a statement that are already excited in the run-up to the event itself.
“We already have 10 confirmed teams for the event and hope to have another five or more,” said John Hirsh, executive director of the NMI Chapter.
The “Plane Pull” will be an event where teams in groups of 20 will compete to pull a Continental 737 for 12 feet in the fastest time. Teams will receive free t-shirts and a chance to win several trophies and prizes.
Teams that have already signed up include DFS-Saipan, FedEx, IT&E, Saipan Bankers Association, Herman’s Modern Bakery, Team Tan Holdings, Rota Terminal & Transfer and Rota Trading Co.
Any interested company or group of friends who would like to compete should call 234-3459 for more information. There is a $750 entry fee, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross.
In the wake of Typhoon Tingting, the Chapter needs the community’s support to help raise funds for disaster victims.
