CNMI All-stars on the way to the World Series
As the Pacific was waking to a brand new day, three of the finest baseball teams from the CNMI boarded a plane destined for the mainland as players representing the Junior League and the Senior League began their journey for the World Series.
At 8am this morning, the All-stars of the CNMI Junior League readied for their flight as Jesse Borja, Shane Yamada, Jesus Iguel, Vince Sablan, Martin Pangelinan, Josh Arriola, Joe Salas, Thorn Sablan, Ryan Ada, Jonathan Salas, Kevin Babauta, Nicolas San Nicolas, Nunu Kapileo, and Juan Tenorio took their place in line at the Saipan International Airport with friends and family.
Junior League manager Sonny Flores will guide the boys in Taylor, Michigan against the likes of Mexico, Belgium, and Canada. Their first game will be on Sunday, August 15 when they face the best from Mexico at 12pm. On Monday they take the field with Belgium at 2pm, and after a day off on Tuesday, they meet Canada on Wednesday at 5pm.
The Juniors will be in good company on the plane as the squad that will represent the CNMI in Bangor, ME will be right along side of them. Oliver Secharmidal, Antione Allen, Tony Palacios, Franco Flores, Ben Tasikan, Tyrone Omar, Dan Concepcion, Jeff Saures, Zachary Concepcion, Derrick Babauta, Jesse Garcia, Thomas Guerrero, Many Ada, and Peter Tenorio will be representing the CNMI on the fields of Senior League World Series.
Senior League Manager Jess Wabol will have a slightly different road to travel, as his boys will face a team from Oxnard, CA, Canada, the host team from Bangor, and a team that has yet to be determined to represent the south.
The boys will get their first taste of action when they challenge the team from California on Monday, August 16 at 10am. Their next match up is against Canada at 1pm on Tuesday, followed by Bangor on Wednesday, and the representative from the South on Thursday.
The Little League team departs on Monday, August 16 en route to South Williamsport, PA to make it three teams from the CNMI in the Little League World Series.
