UOG student completes MVA internship
University of Guam management intern George Andrew A. Sablan has completed his month-long internship with the Marianas Visitors Authority.
Sablan’s internship was from Dec. 20, 2004 to Jan. 18, 2005. He gained experience working with various projects in MVA’s Public Relations and Community Programs and the Marketing divisions.
“I’ve learned that education is very important, but applying what you learn in the real world also requires occupational skills,” said Sablan, “I was able to apply my writing and critical thinking skills during my time here.”
Sablan is currently a senior pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in International Tourism. He is a 2001 graduate of Marianas High School and is expected to graduate from the University of Guam in December 2005.
“We are happy that we could offer this type of training and we hope that his experience with MVA has given him some insight to working in the real world,” said Martin Dueñas, acting managing director for MVA.
Sablan said that he will not leave MVA empty-handed. “One of the greatest strengths of this internship was the people I have worked with. Teamwork is highly regarded here at MVA, which made my experience here a very positive one,” said Sablan.
