The D-9ers cruised to their 11th victory of the season in the men’s Island Wide Fast Pitch Softball League on Tuesday night, as they easily dispatched Kagman 1-2-3 by a 17-6 score in five innings at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Led by an offense of long-ball hitters, the D-9ers powered out six homeruns in only four rounds at the plate, as they steamrolled the homesteaders in the abbreviated contest. There were several D-9ers who had stellar performances with the bat, such as slugging shortstop Mel Sakisat, who went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of triples, a pair of homeruns and seven runs batted in.

Teammate Roy Celis was also flawless at the plate, as the centerfielder managed to equal Sakisat’s feat of 4-for-4 and two homeruns, while tacking on a single, a double, and three runs batted in.

The hits didn’t stop there for the D-9ers, as pitcher Paul Camacho was 4-for-4 at the plate as well, while notching a single, two doubles, and a homerun for good measure.

Camacho finished off with two runs batted in, as did teammate Dante Sablan, who went 3-for-3 and was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Sablan’s homer came in his first at bat—a two-run shot that scored Camacho–and finished with a single, a double, and a walk.

The D-9ers wasted little time on Tuesday evening, as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first inning. After ceding a run in the top of the second inning, they came back to score it back in the bottom half of the inning, three more runs in the third and four in the fourth to force the umpire to call the game on account of the 10-run mercy rule.

The D-9ers improved their overall record to 11-3 with the win, but remain in second place behind the Saipancell/NMC Proa, who completed their season a couple of weeks ago at 14-1.

The game got started late as the Team from Kagman was three players short prior to the start of the contest, but numbers one, two, and three showed up in the nick of time to preserve their season of perfect attendance.

All of the high-speed action of the fast pitch league continues tonight, when the Verizon Sluggers (7-6) take on the Islanders (3-9) at 6:30pm at the Oleai Sports Complex.
